Tap, clack, drip, drop.
But in a flash, the slow spritz turned into a sheet of driving rain across the crowded marketplace.
"Oof! Ma'am, you can't stand behind the counter"
"It is RAINING; have some decency, Gerald. I'm staying dry, not stealing," Mirium clattered.
The flocks began to scatter and flee.
"Master Katagin, please do stay dry; can't risk you getting sick again," the butler said, sheltering the young man into his carriage.
"Out of the way!" clamored a disgruntled, hulking, armed group, pushing past people to the guild hall.
A miserable, disgruntled man hurriedly covering a parchment-wrapped parcel scuttled between the crowd. "By Fate, why did it have to be today!?"
Not all were set with dismay. A low hummed lymir floated beneath the furver. "Hmmm mhmm mmmuhh hmm hmmm." The source was a now-drenched man slumped against the far wall in a canvas coat, his rosy cheeks smirking as he enjoyed his tune.
Whoosh, a blur flashed in front of him. "Whoops, 'cuse me, watch your step!" Then, like a spring up onto the poles holding the awnings of the marketplace; the blur seemed to float across them like a dance towards the city center. "Tis just a bit of water, you ninnies," she thought to herself as she skipped nimbly from pole to pole.
In moments, the street was empty but for trickling streams between the cobblestones. CRACK! A flash of lightning broke the tempest, and blinding light filled the marketplace. In the split second between the flash and crash, a tender splash and thump landed unnoticed behind a market stall. "What the! Wait, how!? WHERE AM I!?"
All fell in place, like rain, in the magic of this moment.
