Also known as: Dragons, The Dragon, fire-breathing lizard-thing, Dragon (Species)
A massive, fire-breathing reptilian creature encountered by Erin in a cave, breathing violet flame.
The Dragon can breathe fire, use powerful protective spells on his lair, cast a teleportation spell for emergencies, and communicate via a Message spell. He has lived for centuries and possesses a large hoard of treasure.
Appears in Erin's flashback as the first creature she encountered upon arriving in the new world. It was slumbering in a cave, and its violet fire breath, though it missed, was potent enough to severely burn her right arm and side as she fled.
The narrative shifts to the Dragon's perspective, revealing his panicked reaction to Erin's appearance in his lair. He flees to a backup location, spends days paranoid about assassins, and eventually concludes it was a magical accident. Before falling back asleep, he begrudgingly prepares to uphold a centuries-old social obligation.
Discussed at length when Erin asks if Relc is a Dragon, leading to a conversation about the differences between Drakes and true Dragons.
“That time again? Two hundred years already? I might as well. It’s courteous.”
“At least, from strange young women appearing out of nowhere. She had to have been the subject of—of some chance. Maybe a [Gambler] or whatnot. Otherwise, I would be either dead or have been contacted by whomever it was. It cannot be Demons; they’re far too unsubtle. Who else? If it was the Quarass, I’d be dead. Djinni smell of magic. And that leaves…my kin, who wouldn’t do that.”
“Just a coincidence? An accident? I don’t know, and I didn’t get anything to latch onto. Whomever it is, they’re gone. I—I shall be watchful.”
