Mr. Skeleton
characterAlso known as: the skeleton, a pile of bones, dead people, a corpse, a dead body
The skeletal remains of a person that Erin discovered in an upstairs bedroom of the inn.
Profile
A complete skeleton found lying on a bed in one of the inn's bedrooms.
Timeline
Though absent for most of the chapter, the skeleton's disappearance is a central plot point. Its vanishing act transforms Erin's unease into genuine terror and paranoia, making her suspect an unseen threat is lurking within or near the inn, and directly leads to her heightened state of alert when the Goblin intruder appears.
Quotes
“Because it was valuable? Because skeletons are so useful, sure. Maybe the Goblins did it. Can’t you eat bones? Or—someone else?”
“Question. How did Mr. Skeleton upstairs die?”
“Am I afraid of dead people? Well yeah. But they can’t hurt me. Zombies can, but normal dead people can’t. It’s just a skeleton. I can take a look for signs of—of death, and then I’ll go sleep. Good plan. Let’s do it.”
“It’s gone.”
