Chapter 1.16
Struggling with depression after her recent trauma, Erin Solstice finds a group of starving Goblins in a strange orchard. She invites them into The Wandering Inn and cooks them a meal, finding a moment of catharsis in the act. The Goblins leave three silver coins as payment before departing, leaving Erin with a newfound sense of peace.
Erin Solstice is in a deep state of depression, unable to eat or find joy in anything following the traumatic events at her inn. She wanders aimlessly out onto the plains until she discovers a strange, silent orchard filled with trees bearing poisonous blue fruit. Overwhelmed by her feelings of emptiness, she sinks into despair, reflecting on the violence she has witnessed.
Her solitude is interrupted by the sight of four Goblins, including the Littlest Goblin, who are desperately trying to hunt Rock Crabs for food. They are starving and unsuccessful. Erin's initial reaction is a scream born of her trauma, which frightens the Goblins away. However, their hunger is too great, and they soon return to their hunt.
Seeing their pathetic state, Erin makes a sudden decision. Overcoming her own fear and trauma, she shouts for them to stop and then invites them into The Wandering Inn for a meal. The Goblins are wary but follow her inside. Erin cooks a simple pasta dish, sets the table, and insists they sit and eat with forks, even showing the Littlest Goblin how to use one.
The Goblins devour the meal ravenously. When they are finished, the Littlest Goblin approaches Erin and places three tarnished silver coins on the table as payment. Erin tries to refuse, stating that the first meal is on the house, but the Goblins leave the coins and depart. Left alone in her inn, Erin finally feels a sense of peace and purpose.
