Chapter 1.07
Erin Solstice survives a bout of food poisoning after observing a band of Goblins who can seemingly detect which blue fruits are safe to eat. Later that night, a terrifying skeletal monstrosity arrives and attempts to break into The Wandering Inn.
Growing tired of her diet of blue fruits, Erin Solstice decides to explore her new [Basic Crafting] skill. However, after gathering and eating more fruit, she becomes violently ill, quickly realizing she has suffered from food poisoning. After recovering, she notices a small Goblin Band of six by the stream near The Wandering Inn.
Fascinated and cautious, Erin watches them from the inn. She observes the Littlest Goblin in the group carefully sniffing and discarding certain blue fruits before eating. Erin deduces that some of the fruits are poisonous and that the Goblins possess a way to tell them apart, possibly through a Skill like [Detect Poison]. This revelation provides her with a method for safely gathering her own food.
Inspired to find other food sources, Erin uses her [Basic Crafting] skill to weave a crude net out of grass. She attempts to catch the large Flatfish in the stream but fails, managing only to trap a few small Rock Crabs, which she is hesitant to eat.
A brief scene shifts to the city of Liscor, where Guardsmen Relc and Klbkch are at the barracks. Their superior, Captain Z, orders Relc to break up a brawl, offering a glimpse into the daily life of the Liscor City Watch.
That night, as Erin rests inside the inn, a terrifying new threat appears. A massive Skeletal Monstrosity, a shambling horror of bones and claws, lumbers up to the inn. The chapter ends with the creature pounding on the door, trying to force its way inside while Erin is trapped within.
After eating a tainted Blue Fruit, Erin Solstice becomes violently ill. She survives the ordeal and realizes that her primary food source is not consistently safe.
A small Goblin Band arrives at the stream to forage. Erin observes the Littlest Goblin carefully selecting edible Blue Fruits, leading her to understand how to avoid the poisoned ones.

“It matters not. I require sustenance. Food. Provide that to me, and I shall be on my way.”
“I do not wish to become angry.”
“Aw. No. Oh no. Am I…dumber than Goblins?”
“I will not be denied. Open this door or face my wrath.”
“A pity. But I will have you provide me with sustenance nevertheless.”
“And I’d have a team of doctors feeding me pills by the pound too.”
“Mistress. All I ask for is a bit of food. Provide me that and I shall be on my way.”
“A visitor.”
“This is unwise. Your insolence will only bring about more punishment.”
“No.”
“She can eat my scales. Let’s go and get this over with.”
“Do not anger me further. If you refuse my simple request, I will—”
“What a pain. Let’s smack some scales-for-brains quick. Maybe we’ll still have time to go to the inn afterwards.”
“Give me what I desire. Or I shall—”
“Huh. Can Goblins smell poison? Wait…wait. That Relc guy said they have Skills. Do you get Skills to tell if there’s bad fruits? [Bad Fruit Detector]? No way.”
“I could eat mushrooms! Or…maybe not mushrooms because ick. Or bugs? Wait—that’s just as bad. Plants, then. Herbs. And blue fruits. Okay—this fruit and this fruit and this fruit.”
“There. I have signed us both out. Again.”
“Must taste bad, huh?”
“Seriously. They were so normal. But apparently I’m normal too. There are other Humans around here at least. But leveling? Classes? Am I an [Innkeeper]? Do I innkeep? How does that work?”
“Don’t insult the Watch Captain while we are within earshot.”
“You know we will be called upon to go after those who got away. And there is damage assessment, guard detail, investigating any burglaries during the violence…”
“Wait a second. Maybe that could work. Let’s see. If I take this long grass and tie this knot here…”
“Do I just eat what’s in the cupboard and fight dino-birds? If I can’t eat the blue fruits…”
“…Poison. Gotta be.”
“Alright, let’s go. Man, I really hate Captain Z.”
“Maybe the poison is making the fruit like—wetter? Or it’s making the fruit weaker?”
“…Looks like I’ve got a few weeks before I run out. But bleh, eating just blue fruit all the time would be disgusting. At least there’s some ingredients left for pasta if I can find more eggs.”
“Senior Guardsman Relc, belay that! There’s a brawl in the marketplace. Get over there and stop the fighting!”
“They said they’d visit. But did they mean that or are they busy? Either way, I can always make more pasta and save some for later, right?”
“[Basic Crafting]. Might as well give it a shot. I’m out of fruit, anyways.”
“And all because of that little Goblin. Huh.”
“Shut up and get moving! I need everyone there, now.”
“Healing potions are awesome.”
“Aha! So that’s all it is?”
“Great. Thanks. Now, wanna go check on that Human? I hear—”
“No?”
“A pity. Let’s be on our way.”
“What? Some idiot had to start a fight now of all times? We were going to go back and—”
“Do not fret. The Human will not be going anywhere.”
“I think I need to figure out what a good one looks like.”
“I know, I know. But I was going to eat more pasta and—”
“We’ll count your hours later, move!”
“I don’t have any. Go away!”
“Um. We’re closed. S-sorry.”
“Are you done logging out for the day yet?”
“…Jerk.”
“I leveled up again.”
“You look innocent. But maybe…”
“I’m warning you! Come in and I’ll, I’ll…”
“After you.”
“Hey. Who’s there?”
“Stupid thing.”
“Okay. How about…”
“They must be busy.”
“But—we’re signed out—”
“What—what was that?”
“Relc!”
“Whoa.”
“Almost.”
“Aw.”
