Chapter 1.07
1.07
Erin wakes with a healed hand and a new [Basic Crafting] skill, which she uses to gather blue fruits. She suffers severe food poisoning after eating them, inadvertently learning some are poisonous. The day ends with a terrifying Skeletal Monstrosity trying to break into The Wandering Inn.
Summary
Erin Solstice woke up to find her hand completely healed by the potion she received from Klbkch, marveling at its magical properties. She then recalled that she had leveled up, gaining the [Basic Crafting] skill. Needing a way to gather more food, she put her new skill to the test, successfully weaving a crude but functional basket out of long grass.
With her new basket, Erin went out and collected a large quantity of blue fruits. Back inside The Wandering Inn, she began eating them ravenously, but was suddenly struck by agonizing cramps and violent illness. She realized she had been poisoned and spent a torturous hour writhing on the floor before the worst of the effects subsided, leaving her weak and exhausted.
Meanwhile, a small party of Goblins, including the very small Littlest Goblin, stumbled upon the pile of blue fruits Erin had sorted and discarded earlier. A Gatherer Goblin in the group used a skill, possibly [Detect Poison], to quickly separate the edible fruits from the poisonous ones. The Goblins took the good fruit, revealing that the poisonous ones were identifiable by their discolored seed cores.
A brief scene in the city of Liscor showed Relc and Klbkch at the Guard's Barracks. Their superior, Watch Captain Z, ordered them to go handle a brawl that had broken out in the marketplace.
That night, as Erin recovered inside the inn, a new threat arrived. A horrifying Skeletal Monstrosity, reeking of death, began pounding on the door of The Wandering Inn, demanding food and trapping the terrified Erin inside.

Quotes
“[Basic Crafting]. Might as well give it a shot. I’m out of fruit, anyways.”
“You look innocent. But maybe…”
“Do I just eat what’s in the cupboard and fight dino-birds? If I can’t eat the blue fruits…”
“I think I need to figure out what a good one looks like.”
“I could eat mushrooms! Or…maybe not mushrooms because ick. Or bugs? Wait—that’s just as bad. Plants, then. Herbs. And blue fruits. Okay—this fruit and this fruit and this fruit.”
“Healing potions are awesome.”
“Seriously. They were so normal. But apparently I’m normal too. There are other Humans around here at least. But leveling? Classes? Am I an [Innkeeper]? Do I innkeep? How does that work?”
“I leveled up again.”
“Wait a second. Maybe that could work. Let’s see. If I take this long grass and tie this knot here…”
“Whoa.”
“Stupid thing.”
“What—what was that?”
“…Poison. Gotta be.”
“Okay. How about…”
“Huh. Can Goblins smell poison? Wait…wait. That Relc guy said they have Skills. Do you get Skills to tell if there’s bad fruits? [Bad Fruit Detector]? No way.”
“And all because of that little Goblin. Huh.”
“Aw. No. Oh no. Am I…dumber than Goblins?”
“And I’d have a team of doctors feeding me pills by the pound too.”
“They said they’d visit. But did they mean that or are they busy? Either way, I can always make more pasta and save some for later, right?”
“They must be busy.”
“Are you done logging out for the day yet?”
“Almost.”
“There. I have signed us both out. Again.”
“Great. Thanks. Now, wanna go check on that Human? I hear—”
“Aha! So that’s all it is?”
“Maybe the poison is making the fruit like—wetter? Or it’s making the fruit weaker?”
“A pity. Let’s be on our way.”
“You know we will be called upon to go after those who got away. And there is damage assessment, guard detail, investigating any burglaries during the violence…”
“Do not fret. The Human will not be going anywhere.”
“After you.”
“A visitor.”
“It matters not. I require sustenance. Food. Provide that to me, and I shall be on my way.”
“I will not be denied. Open this door or face my wrath.”
“Do not anger me further. If you refuse my simple request, I will—”
“Mistress. All I ask for is a bit of food. Provide me that and I shall be on my way.”
“No.”
“A pity. But I will have you provide me with sustenance nevertheless.”
“Relc!”
“Don’t insult the Watch Captain while we are within earshot.”
“What? Some idiot had to start a fight now of all times? We were going to go back and—”
“But—we’re signed out—”
“What a pain. Let’s smack some scales-for-brains quick. Maybe we’ll still have time to go to the inn afterwards.”
“Aw.”
“I know, I know. But I was going to eat more pasta and—”
“Hey. Who’s there?”
“Um. We’re closed. S-sorry.”
“I don’t have any. Go away!”
“I’m warning you! Come in and I’ll, I’ll…”
“This is unwise. Your insolence will only bring about more punishment.”
“I do not wish to become angry.”
“No?”
“Give me what I desire. Or I shall—”
“Alright, let’s go. Man, I really hate Captain Z.”
“She can eat my scales. Let’s go and get this over with.”
“Senior Guardsman Relc, belay that! There’s a brawl in the marketplace. Get over there and stop the fighting!”
“Shut up and get moving! I need everyone there, now.”
“We’ll count your hours later, move!”
“…Jerk.”
“…Looks like I’ve got a few weeks before I run out. But bleh, eating just blue fruit all the time would be disgusting. At least there’s some ingredients left for pasta if I can find more eggs.”
“Must taste bad, huh?”
